Symposium on Union Budget
ACCMAN organized a Symposium on 'Union Budget 2009-2010' on 11th July 2009 which was a grand success. The students of the institute took keen and enthusiastic interest in organizing the symposium which was widely appreciated by the participants. The distinguished participants spoke on the various aspects of budget 2009-10 and budget making process, which greatly enhanced the knowledge level of students.
Following are the names of the speakers and their views:
Mr M.C. Singhi, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India held the opinion that the Union Budget 2009-2010 builds rightful aspirations of the people. So long as there is corresponding revenue generation for repayment, borrowing is not bad.
Dr. Mathew Joseph, Senior Consultant, ICRIER (Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations) felt that the budget adequately fulfills the demand side, though mechanisms for supply side would need effective implementation.
Mr G.K. Chhabra, Director-Finance, Technip (KT) India Ltd. explained the framework for adherence to payment of GST (Goods & SereviceTax).
Mr Puneet Gupta, Sr. Manager - Direct Taxes, PwC (Pricewater houseCoopers India Pvt. Ltd.), said that the budget provides for generation of revenue from direct taxes for appropriate investments to ensure growth of economy.

Dr. K.B.L. Mathur, Former Chief Economic Advisor, Ministry of Rural Dev, Govt. of India and Member Governing Council, ACCMAN opined that a budget is not just a compilation of income & expenditure of the Government; it is all about management of resources in the economy.
National Conference on “Managing Amidst Global Turbulence”
ACCMAN organized a National Level Conference on “Managing Amidst Global Turbulence HR Perspectives” at Gymkhana Club on 27.09.08. Mr N S Rajan, Global Leader-HR Advisory, Ernst & Young, while delivering the keynote address expressed his confidence that Indian CEOs will come up with innovative HR solutions for achieving competitive advantage despite pressures for cost cutting.
Other speakers at the conference included Mr S.Y. Siddiqui, Head-HR, Maruti Udyog Ltd., Mr V.B. Lal, Head-HR, Moser Baer, Mr Vinod Behari (ED-HR, RECL), Dr. V.P. Singh (Head-HR, Jaipuria Group), Mr Asim Talukdar (Sr.VP-HR, NIIT), Prof. Binod Kumar (Chairman, Northern Region, NCTE), Mr Arunav Banerjee (Head HR, Manpower Consulting, US), Prof. Mukesh Chaturvedi (Bimtech), Mr Virendra Verma (TCS), Prof. B.D. Singh (IMT), and Mr Sumit Choudhary (Third Millennium).
Earlier while introducing the theme of the conference, Prof. Praveen Sharma, Director, ACCMAN Institute of Management, set the context for the discussions by outlining the problems that HR managers are facing due to global meltdown. Mr S.Y. Siddqui, Head-HR, Maruti Udyog Ltd., while delivering the valedictory address, congratulated ACCMAN Institute of Management for organizing a well attended conference on such a relevant topic.
